The Big Berkey® is the most popular Berkey® system, designed for 1–4 people and built to handle everyday household use with ease. Constructed from highly polished AISI 304 stainless steel, it includes 2 Black Berkey® Purification Elements that remove or reduce up to 99.9999999% of pathogenic bacteria and up to 99.999% of viruses — far exceeding EPA and NSF standards. It purifies raw or untreated water, eliminating volatile organic compounds, trihalomethanes, heavy metals (including lead), pharmaceuticals, pesticides, PFCs, herbicides, and radiologicals, while retaining the healthy minerals your body needs.

With a 2.25-gallon lower chamber and a flow rate of up to 3.5 gallons per hour, the Big Berkey® keeps up with daily demand without electricity or plumbing. The system is expandable to 4 Black Berkey® Elements to increase flow rate, and each set of 2 elements provides up to 6,000 gallons (approx. 5 years) of purification. At 8.5″ diameter × 19.25″ height and just 7 lbs empty, it’s a countertop powerhouse for clean, great-tasting water at less than 2 cents per gallon.
